Brendan as a Speaker or Workshop Instructor

Over my career, I developed a passion for leveraging executive coaching and leadership development as a vehicle to help those I worked with perform at higher levels. Sometimes, a few small interventions can make a big difference.

I especially like to help executives move from a “learning experience” to “execution”, the latter often being the missing link to maximize their organization impact and improve personal performance.

Make Conversations Work for You

Now more than ever, effective communication skills are critical in a fast changing business environment. Too often, leaders get in their own way. They “get stuck” in business situations where a simple conversation, effectively executed, could make the difference between “moving forward” or “remaining stuck”.

Our natural impulses do not help us when we are faced with conversations that are of critical importance and have the potential to be emotionally charged.

This presentation will help participates to diagnose these situations and adapt a few simple strategies that will enable them to become more comfortable with leading through touch conversation situations.

Desired Outcomes

  • Diagnose “effective” and “ineffective” conversations.
  • Pivot to the levers that a leader can use to take control, bring others into a dialogue, and move beyond a “stuck place”.
  • Each leader to leave with a least one “move to action” step that he/she “will” apply in the workplace for maximum leverage and business impact.

Potential Audience

  • Individuals and/or leaders in an organization who want to improve their relationships with others and leverage the power of effective conversation skills in the workplace.
  • Any team(s) who need awareness and skill development on conversations that will optimize the performance of the team(s).
  • Individuals and organizations who value the importance of leadership development as a lever to deliver exceptional value to customers and maximize the performance of their organization.

Duration

  • As speaker: 60 minutes.
  • As a workshop: 4-8 hours.
  • Duration can be adjusted to fit your business/event schedule.

Lead at the Next Level – Now

What do we see in the current business environment? A fast changing business world impacted by stiff competition, regulatory changes, demanding customers and a rapid change in the deployment of technology and business processes.

Leaders need to be able to grow up quickly. Emerging leaders from technical backgrounds do not automatically possess the leadership skills to manage and lead broader teams. They must also be able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and influence leadership at multiple levels. Leaders need to work and own projects in parallel with coaching others to do the same.

In this presentation, we will discuss these challenges and provide some insights on how leaders can adapt and thrive in today’s business environment.

Desired Outcomes

  • Awareness on the leadership challenges facing leaders today.
  • Pivot to the levers that a leader can use to adapt to maximize the performance of his/her organization and lead at the “next level”
  • Each leader to leave with a least one “move to action” step that he/she “will” apply in the workplace for maximum leverage and business impact.

Potential Audience

  • Leaders who support their organization’s mission, want to maximize their contribution and operate at the “next level”.
  • Emerging Leaders who are adapting to the rigors of broader leadership roles.

Financial Literacy – An X Factor in Leadership Development

Leadership Development is about giving people experiences to leverage their strengths and make a material impact in an organization. Organizations need to make sure that leaders or emerging leaders have the tools to be able to succeed.

As a financial leader in a large corporation, I experienced the challenges faced by leaders who lacked basic financial knowledge and skills. Often, leaders are promoted because of their ability to solve problems in an operational or technical field. As they assume broader leadership roles, they may make poorly judged decisions because of a lack of financial acumen.

In this presentation, we will discuss the importance of finance in managing a business and the levers to take financial responsibility for your business and make informed business decisions.

Desired Outcomes

  • Awareness on the importance of finance in managing a business.
  • Pivot to the levers that a leader can use to manage financial budgets and how to use finance in business decision making.
  • Each leader to leave with a least one “move to action” step that he/she “will” apply in the workplace for maximum leverage and business impact.

Potential Audience

  • Leaders who need to increase their financial and business acumen
  • Organizations and individuals in organizations who have a technical background and who would greatly benefit from increased knowledge and skills in the financial field. (Manufacturing Organizations have greatly benefitted from this exposure)
